Our New Building
The new building consists of 5,000 square feet, 2,500 square feet on each level.

The building features seven high school classrooms (three are labs), a central gathering room, the middle school 900 square-foot configurable classroom, lunchroom, and music recording studio.

Our pond, surrounded by native plants, is not only beautiful but serves as an ecology lab.

Facilities
In fall of 2006, The Howard Gardner School purchased an old farmhouse on 1.4 acres backing up to Pikes Branch Creek in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County. We have just completed our new classroom building!

We continue to use the old farmhouse for administration.

Physical Education
Lee District Park & Recreation Center is less than one mile away. We use the sports field, tennis courts, basketball court, nature trails, and other facilities for many of our P.E. classes. Our climbing class uses the Sport Rock gym nearby, and our skateboard classes use the Alexandria Skate Park.

Library Services
John Marshall Public Library is three blocks away. Classes make use of the library for research projects. In addition, our wireless network makes internet research available throughout the school.

Lunch
We have an "open lunch" policy. Our students often purchase lunch at the Rose Hill Shopping Center, which is one block away, at Safeway, Subway, Mamma Mia's and other neighborhood restaurants. A healthy box-lunch option can be ordered online, or students may  bring lunch and prepare it in the lunchroom.

Outdoor Laboratory
Pike's Branch Creek adjoins our property. We have officially adopted the creek and are responsible for cleaning one mile of the creek twice a year. In exchange, we have the opportunity to use the creek for our ecology and environmental studies classes.
